Yesterday I was given a Primal Man Shave Box to review with my partner Dave and here are our thoughts…

Primal Man is an old-fashioned style wet shave subscription box that gets delivered direct to your door each month. Everything comes in a well presented box with a very authentic feel to it. The first box contains a razor, 10 razor blades, shaving brush, shaving soap and aftershave balm. In the following months you will receive aftershaves, soaps, razor blades and astringent matches.

The first thing I noticed was how heavy the razor is! It’s not like the cheap ones you get in the supermarket, you can tell it’s quality just from the weight and feel of it! On this rare occasion Dave let me shave him, he has very thick bushy facial hair and normally goes through 3-4 disposable razors in just one shave. When I first opened up the blades it scared me a bit seeing how sharp they are, but it was very easy to put the blade inside the razor.

Next I put the soap in a bowl and wet the brush to lather it up. The soap will definitely last a lot longer than any expensive saving foam and with the brush you get a more even coverage. With the blade being so sharp I was a bit apprehensive and worried I might cut him but it just glided against his skin and gave a very smooth close shave. I then rubbed on the aftershave balm which Dave said felt very cool and refreshing.

Dave likes to have a bit of a beard so I was only allowed to shave the top part of his face, but as you can see it’s a very smooth shave and considering I’ve never shaved a man before I think I did a good job and no cuts!

The shave box costs £24.99 on a month to month subscription but if you have the 12 month subscription you can get it for just £16.95 this might sound a bit pricy but I promise you won’t be disappointed with the quality and you won’t need to worry about buying shaving products for a whole year. You could even treat the man in your life to a subscription as a gift!
