What would you suggest to someone who wants to do up their home on a budget?
I would say that it pays to be savvy with your homeware shopping just as much as it does with your weekly grocery shopping. You never know when you might be able to save some money! Keep an eye out on your favourite home décor store websites and sign up to their newsletters. This way you’ll receive news about sales and deals as soon as they go live. I personally also love to look around car boot sales and try to pick up a good bargain. You can often find some fantastic homeware that looks as good as new. Or you could even buy small bits of furniture and upcycle them yourself. Depending on the scale of your project, using tester pots of paint and sample swatches can be really cost effective!
You can brighten up any children’s room with a few simple and cheap finishing touches. These Cute Star Shaped Colour Changing lamps are just £1.17 and are perfect for some finishing touches on a budget!
You must get to see a lot of exciting products as a magazine editor. What beauty products are you loving at the moment?
Oh, I’m obsessed with so many beauty products at the moment it’s hard to choose! I would have to say that this month I’ve been absolutely loving the new Philosophy ‘Renewed Hope in a Jar’ moisturiser that came in this months Glossybox. I also always reach for my Urban Decay Naked palette and the Benefit Roller Lash mascara is what I’m wearing today. It has lasted me ages even though I use it a lot. Here are my latest beauty favorites.
The summer holidays are coming up do you have anything creative planned with your daughter?
Hopefully if the weather improves, we’ll be spending lots of time out and about. There are so many free places to go for a walk where you can just take a picnic and relax, here in Somerset so I’m looking forward to exploring those with the family and just taking the opportunity to switch off from work mode a little bit here and there!
We loved your recent blog for mental health charity Mind and thought you were so brave for speaking out. What would be your best advice to anyone suffering with anxiety?
Thanks so much, Kez. I was a little hesitant but I felt that even if it helped one person with their own struggle then it was worth writing. I think I would just say that if you suffer from anxiety, or are dealing with grief it is important to remember that you are not alone. Mind have some great links on their website that can help and sometimes even just opening up to a friend can be a good place to start. Everyone deals with things in different ways so it’s important to focus on the positive things that work for you.
